As someone who deals with depression it can be isolating and it’s very easy to try to get out of that head space. And with drugs it can numb or mask the pain but the wounds are still there. With the conversation of addiction coming back around I just hope that it’s more nuanced than victim blaming or a blunt anti-drug message that can tone deaf and not helpful at all. Addiction truly is a disease and just like any other disease there’s resources available to combat it. There’s also grace so be with those who are struggling and fighting because sobriety is much more complicated than many feel

And We Back – Spike Lee’s Return to Prominence
It only takes one. One hit and all is forgiven. One hit and those who forgot your genius will come rushing back. I've seen this happen in music. Chris Brown had a domestic dispute with Rihanna in 2009 and happened to be in jail when his biggest hit, Loyal dominated the airwaves but Team Breezy … Continue reading And We Back – Spike Lee’s Return to Prominence
One Take T – A Look at Tyler the Creator’s Flower Boy Sessions
What I like most about these loosies is that it shows his depth and also the different ways he can approach records. That he can go from just rapping his tail off on 435 to taking a groovy song lie Prophet’s I Wanna Be Your Man and giving a new flavor with Peach Fuzz is awesome. I’ve loved these songs so much that I complied them into a playlist. You can find these songs on his Twitter page and his YouTube channel.
Dropping Seeds – A Look at Tyler’s Flower Boy album
This album is one of the records where you can turn it on and play it all the way through. The songs blend right into each other and the theme of gardens is all throughout the album from Dropping Seeds with Lil Wayne to Garden Shed featuring Estelle. If you haven’t heard it you need to check it out. It was placed #2 on Billboard even after the album leaked two weeks before his release date and has now been certified Gold along with being nominated for Best Rap Album at this past Grammy’s.

Real Friends – From South Park to Louis Vuitton
Lovers of high fashion both proved themselves capable with opportunities to expand into this market with the launch of a Louis Vuitton sneaker collection (Jaspers, Dons, Mr. Hudsons) each named after West’s friends and fellow contemporaries. Interning at Fendi they showed they were ahead of the curve with fashion again presenting a forward idea on pants.
Why I Love Brooklyn Nine Nine
Though it’s a comedy there’s a way they tackle issues that is refreshing. It remains itself and not a “Very Special Episode” whenever it talks about police brutality or gender roles. In fact it uses these topics as ways to bring even more jokes. There’s an episode where Diaz and Boyle are paired together and are wearing body cameras. Well shenanigans ensure and Boyle is caught in a compromising position and it’s all captured through the body cams. And because it’s a drug case and there are drugs in the background it’s used as evidence to bring a crook down.
Whatever It Takes – Cavs vs Warriors IV
You never know how players will respond to adversity I hope the Cavaliers can bounce back. Young players like Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. are experiencing their first Finals. Sometimes the lights can be too bright. On the other end the Warriors have 4 future Hall of Famers who each won a championship last year.
Heavy Is The Head – The Road To The 2018 NBA Finals
The playoffs is all about match-ups. While the Toronto Raptors were #1 in the East because they have no answer to LeBron that got swept in the second round. Injuries have been a main factor in these playoffs and with Cavaliers losing Kevin Love there’s a possibility that LeBron could’ve actually already played his last game in Cleveland. With Chris Paul, who has been phenomenal in this series, out with a hamstring injury there’s a greater chance that the Warriors will bounce back winning both Game 6 in Oakland and a possible Game 7 in Houston.
